Nature Reserve Muniellos Comprehensive, integrated within the Parque Natural de las Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña and Ibias, is one of the most important natural areas in Spain, bringing together about 400 plant species, some threatened, and containing all vertebrates described in Asturias, among which are the brown bear and the capercaillie.
Declared Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO since November 9, 2000, has oak the most spectacular and best preserved in Europe , partly due to the lack of human presence and the other to the isolation and distance from the main roads, being the last stronghold of the ancient and lush forests inhabited the Iberian Peninsula.
Muniellos Within, is one of the most stunning routes that can be performed by the Northwest Iberian Peninsula " Route Muniellos Lagoons " in which travel up the beautiful forests of the reserve and also you can see 3 beautiful high mountain glacial lakes called " Island," "The Honda " and "La Grande ."
Access to the completion of the Route of the Lakes of Muniellos is restricted to a maximum of 20 people a day, so it is necessary to apply well in advance of the relevant permission to go into the Reserve.
Muniellos Reserve is a unique place in Spain. Few of us will never been in a place like, totally wild and isolated from all human activity. In Muniellos no pets or no livestock. Nor cabins or traces of human activity. Just pure nature, wild animals, endemic in this area own only one of the most beautiful oak woodlands, best preserved and oldest in Europe, reflecting the high degree of protection of this beautiful area, and finally a fantastic set 4-glacial lakes that are located in the highest part of the Reserve.
