URBIÓN-BLACK LAGOON (LAGUNA NATURE OF THE BLACK AND CIRCUS GLACIERS URBIÓN-SORIA)

Route description:
To make this route we need to access the town of Soria Duruelo de la Sierra (1200 m.), from which we go to the spectacular scenery of Castroviejo , called the City of Stones, space natural that the style of the enchanted city of Cuenca, offers curious limestone or limestone rock formations formed over thousands of years by the action of water, wind and ice. The heterogeneity of rocks in their morphology, chemical composition and hardness is what has allowed them uneven wear by the elements, resulting in a surprising show of art from the picturesque nature, without definitely worth a leisurely stroll.
From here the path that leads us to the Pico Urbión, on a route that overlaps with that done by the famous writer Antonio Machado in September 1910 (Covaleda-Urbión-Laguna Black), along with some friends to see the birth of the Douro River, and was inspired to create one of his works: "The land of Alvargonzález", inspired by the landscape of the area and stories of patricide that listening.
After contemplating the whimsical shapes that offers Castroviejo, continue to the viewpoint from which to observe the largest area of \u200b\u200bconifers in Europe and the peoples of Duruelo Regumiel, Vilviestre del Pinar, Canicosa de la Sierra, and even Soria. A 1 km. of the complex is the Cascada de la Cueva Serena, who served as location for the film "Riding to the death" of the year 1963, was filmed in this area and that was about the adventures of mythical fox. We continue by road through pine forest to the source first and then reaching Berro Refuge Bivouac The Bunker, and located at 1700 meters altitude.
From here, soon reached the source of the river Duero, the third longest river in Spain (897 km), at the foot of Pico Urbión. Ascend 100 meters finally reaching the peak Urbión, which 2228 meters is one of the highest in Soria and the highest known mountain in the Picos de Urbión, with peaks over 2000 meters.
Urbión Peak covered with snow continuously from January to May and in the summer months are still snowfields. The origin of the term seems to come from Celtiberian Urbión meaning 'two waters good', referring to the rivers Duero and Urbión born on its slopes, river latter to follow the north side to finish in the river Najerilla which in turn join the Ebro
After enjoying the spectacular views, began to descend to Laguna Larga, of glacial origin, situated 1850 meters above sea level.
later arrived at the viewpoint, where it provides a panoramic view of Laguna Negra, which we will go. After descending 750 meters arrived at the beautiful Laguna Negra, where the road ends, that surely will leave an indelible image of his memory, which is located to 1,780 m. altitude. This is a glacial lake surrounded by cliffs and pine, beech and ferns contrast with the majestic wall of dark gray rock is reflected in its crystal and shimmering waters, thus its name.
These are the lands where the great writer walked Antonio Machado and that served as inspiration for some of his works, among which is "The Land of Alvargonzález" (1912):
"Hasta la Laguna Negra,
under the Duero river,
carry the body, leaving
behind a bloody trail, and in the lagoon
bottomless well
keeping secrets ... "
La Laguna Negra gained notoriety by being the place where Antonio Machado placed the legend of the Sons of Alvargonzález. Machado lies the tragic story of a patricide in this land. In 1912 the novel written in prose that would deal in April of that year:
Alvargonzález is assassinated by two of his three children in a hurry to collect the inheritance. Black Lagoon is the place they choose to dispose of the body. Crime pays for an innocent person is convicted of the club, the wife of the deceased mother of the murderers, dies of grief. Their greed has no payment expected to stop producing land. The brother emigrated, on his return, purchase of the land to their brothers and get great harvests. Remorse corrode murderers who end up selling what is left and trekking, passing near the Laguna Negra is lost in the night and end up in their waters. In these verses describes the lagoon

transparent and still water, an enormous wall of stone, where vultures nest
and the echo sleeps around;
clear water where
drink saw eagles,
where the wild mountain boar
