CLIMBING ROUTE MIRAVALLES
(OS ANCARES) (DRAFT EIGHT SUMMIT)

Distance: 10 km
Duration of tour: 3 hours
Difficulty: Medium
Route description:

The ascent route to Miravalles is one of the most beautiful that can be performed in Ankara. If we could describe in two words would say that it is all a visual feast: much of the trail runs along the line of summits from which we can contemplate "bird's eye view" extraordinary landscapes on both sides of the mountain, overlooking the Valley of Balouta Ancares and Leon zone, the Rao Valley in Lugo, the highest mountains in the Bierzo and remote villages and Villares Tormaleo the council Asturias. Our Ibias on this route will have the opportunity to rise to second highest peak of the mountain and visit one of the most interesting towns in the region: Balouta.

To achieve them, will leave the Port of Ancares, natural boundary between Leon and Lugo, and a considerable altitude: 1648 meters. From here walk along the ridge of mountains that separates one part Ancares Valley (Leon) (which includes towns like Tejedo, Pereda, and Vega Candín Espinareda) and other Balouta Valley (also Leon), who has to Balouta and then is called Valle de Rao, entering land Lugo.

Practically the entire route the views are spectacular from all angles opening the said valleys and some of the main peaks of the mountains as the Cuiña or Two Brothers, overlooking the unmistakable peak also Surcio (Ibias, Asturias), reaching even see the highest peaks of Bierzo.

The route is very open in virtually all the way, arriving at some point to be a little exposed, without major problems. It is therefore not advisable for those who have much vertigo, although we believe that the path is simple and almost anyone is qualified to perform.

From one point, the path is separated from the broken ridge to continue sticking to the walls of the mountain through old and uncomfortable masons, always with good views of the traditional village of Balouta, where we will eventually. Slowly return to reach the ridge to the junction of trails that leads, first, to Tejedo of Ancares, and secondly, the peak Miravalles.

From here begins the grueling ascent to the top of the peak, we identified easily by the trig point there at the top. From the summit, the views are spectacular: land of León, Lugo, El Bierzo, Ibias (Asturias), all open to our gaze from one of the best watchmen Ancares possible.

After relaxing in the stunning scenery Miravalles, descended from mountain peaks and then across to the lower brañas communicating with a good road that leads to Lossless Balouta, where you can admire the ancient pallozas.
